Bigger boat

Hi all.

I had been toying with a solid boat but since having a few trips out with the pickup I now have, I've realised that sticking to a sib is the better option.
Now, I'm thinking of something a bit bigger.
Useage is mostly me and the boy and sometimes wifey.
With the 3 of us in the 3.2 it's a bit cramped and we all have to get forwards to get on plane (have a doel fin to try next time we're out and will play with engine height but that's a side story)
My thinking is that a longer (and slightly wider) boat will mean that they are already further forwards and the weight position inside the boat will have slightly less effect.

The question I have is do we think we will get on plane with the evinrude 9.9 smoker I have.
The boat I'm looking at is only 30 kg heavier than our current boat and this motor easily gets on plane if we're balanced correctly.
I could plane with an extra 30kg no problem but will there be significantly more drag with an extra meter of boat?

This is the one I'm thinking of.

My other option is

A foot shorter and only 10kg less.

Thoughts anyone?

The 420 at 78kg and that length will be a hell of a thing to manhandle and set up. I have no experience of that big a combo but a gut feeling wonders if it is a step too far for a 9.9 and be better suited to a 20hp.

The 390 gives me nearly the same feeling.

Depending how you look at it I'm either biased or experienced with alloy floor models of a similar weight to the 390 as we briefly owned a Honwave T35AE at 73kg. Being left to do a daily set up with this single handed almost caused me to give up sibbing.

However if you rate the solid floor and feeling of stability highly this might offset the weight and bulk issue.

I'm with Fenlander. We had a 390 and actually did give up sibbing. Hope it works for you though.

I really don't want to go air floor. I find the setup pretty therapeutic!
Yes it's heavier but mine is easy as I put the floor in the pickup separate to the boat so the only time I would be handling the whole thing is when it's on wheels.
We normally park on and launch from Rhosneigr beach so only got to get from foreshore to water and I could even drive to the water and set up there.
I did have an idea of maybe making some kind of sloped frame on the back of the pickup that I could winch it onto so only one setup per trip.
