Bilge plug

Hello all!
On a long journey in my sib i seem to get quite a bit of water in my bilges if theres any sort of chop, has anyone fitted a non return valve as a bilge plug? It gets annoying having to go ashore to drain it, the water just splashes in so i cant do much to stop it but it steadily builds up and becomes a problem. Ive looked at a flapper but i can only find one that works at 18mph minimum and my little sib only goes 19 at its fastest on flat water so thats a no go...
Thanks in advance!

Hand pump will clear the water quickly.

The better question is why is the water splashing in?? What is the cause of the water splashing in?

it comes in mainly from the outboard, I’ve tried changing the trim and such but it doesn’t help, so not much I can do there to stop it. I also get a fair amount in just from going through any chop, sprays straight over. I’m going to make a splash deck to prevent some of that though. I’ve bought a small pump for now, but I’m hoping to get something that will do it automatically like a flapper...

^ Side on stern pics with the outboard lowered could reveal the engine is too low causing it to splash. Engines aren't designed to splash, nor are the boats, but can if something is wrong.

Still a handpump is very quick to drain a boat.

Ill get some photos when i next get the chance to get out on the boat. Its a very old avon s250 sport boat. Ive tried adjusting the trim of the engine but all that did was make the prop suck in air. My new hand pump has arrived now so hopfully that'll do the job until i can find a way of solving the issue 🙈🙈🙈
