I’m so shallow I’m just redoing a whole bathroom to match Aerotec grey.

I don’t mind it either to be honest. At the Southhampton boat show I got to look at a few boats that I hadn’t seen in the flesh… Really didn’t like the look of the T38, and also the Boatworld 320 (flat) Air deck in red and grey was deal-breakingly cheap looking! I’m being shallow too of course but you’ve got to at least like the look of something you speak so much time with!!

Very true. But I love the look and performance of the T38 but each to their own thank goodness

Thought I'd add - the guy from Boatworld I spoke to said that some people had commented that it wasn't a very 'deep' interior... as in the style of cat that it is means the deck sits quite high between the tubes. Is the Elling like this?

Here's a couple of pics I took from the boat show that show the deck height - bare in mind the tubes are massive at 50cm...
TBH I don't think it would bother me - I'd be happy to have such a large flat surface. Boat is growing on me haha

It wouldn't bother me either Tonus. When we saw it at the boat show both myself and Diane thought it looked a great, stable and roomy sib.
I do think some of the colours from Boatworld are like marmite, you either really like them or really don't.

Yes, all tunnel hull sibs are similar with the underside of the deck around 120 to 150mm above bottom of sponsons.

Thanks Chipko - I thought that might be the case, good to know.

This type of boat is new to me - are there any compromises with them in use?
I guess when landing on a slip or beach you're going up onto the tubes rather than any type of hull? Are there any downsides to them?

I emailed Boatworld asking if the Cruiser 380s that arrive next month have been updated in any way (as you said they might in your review). Thinking transom thickness and fuel tanks straps' position... also there seem to be no oar rowlocks.

Ah - I just noticed the Borika mounts on the tubes... I'm guessing the oars clip into these? Wonder if this is as standard now.

I think every boat we’ve had is a compromise in some form or another, nothings perfect.

The underside of the tubes have full length rubbing strakes so running up the beach or slip is perfectly doable. Far better than a monohull sib in this respect.

As you say rowlocks clip into the tube mounted Borika fittings. Very thick transom can be an issue with some smaller motors and may require swapping inner and outer motor pads for thinner ones. Tank straps midships a tad far back for us so used a cheap luggage strap looped under floor and through tank handle further forward. Like the one in pic on our Elling below.

Just noticed in your post no tank straps on the Boatshow Cruiser.

The one we tested earlier this year had these.

Thanks for the info, great review by the way!
I saw a line attached to your outboard in your picture - is that a safety line in case your thumbscrews come loose?!

I’ll pass on any extra info I get from Boatworld to this thread - cheers

Yeh, I wonder if the Boatshow one was another older model? I’ll see if I can find out if they come as standard

Yes, safety line on the Yam 15 as had to remove inner transom plate due to clamp jaws being too narrow. Our Tohatsu 9.8 and Mariner 20 fitted fine though.

Actually the one at the Boatshow did have a strap - but right at the back:

I heard back from Boatworld that the Cruiser doesn't come with Row locks because it's considered technically too wide to row and the oars are there for use as paddles. Could always buy the same Borika bits as Chipko's review boat...

Also apparently there are no changes to the original model on their current batch of boats (I believe they are back in stock now).

Quite a cool boat - but maybe a bit of a chunk to solo launch with a 20hp...?!

No it's not got any Borika extras - just a bow anchor roller and a strip so it doesn't rub I think.
