I'm not a big sib person so could be completely wrong here but even with 1k off that doesnt look cheap to me. Isnt it still 1k more than a similar excell? Is the bombard THAT much better?
What am I missing here?

I have no idea of its value, I saw the discount and checked google and retailers had it still at full price so thought it worth a heads up. Its still a lot of money.

>>>Is the bombard THAT much better?

Probably... but in a way that benefits the average leisure user?... then probably not.

Possibly the most telling aspect is that the Excel of the same length is rated to 30hp... the C4 to 50hp. The C4 is a serious bit of kit.

I think in a way we are spoiled in value judgement by the huge variety of cheap SIBs available to us now with many alloy floor models just over 4m around £1500.

Taking the C4 size (4.2m approx) class you might consider a benchmark for a no compromise well built SIB the Zodiac Grand Raid... that would cost £7000. Which puts the C4 at a discount price of £2600 well down towards the cheapest offerings.

Back in the late 70s there were no far east import SIBs generally available and the average price of a model around 3.2m by Avon, Zodiac, Humber, Beaufort, Metzeler, Bombard, Hutchinson etc was around £2900 at today's prices. Compare that with similar offerings now at £750-£1000. The far east has made us cheapskates.

That's my Sat am soapbox done!
