Budgees Boat Bash
Now this fellow is a real credit to the Hobby.
Have a watch of his video and give him a like and some support.
Me and Her indoors would have loved to have been there but we were on our way back from Skiathos

He seems down to earth and working hard using his YouTube Channel to support a hobby he enjoys.
I watched the video because we are heading down to wareham for a week soon with the caravan and will take the SIB with a view to going out from poole Harbour to Studland.
His son seems very happy to be part of the adventure, in my experience getting teenagers to be enthusiasticly involved in anything with their parents is quite a skill, which my kids would probably say haven't developed. So, hats off to Budgee for his dad skills!

Seems a nice down to earth fella. Tells it like it is as well, warts and all. Seen him lose an engine towing an inflatable, let the towing line go slack and then accelerated at a right angle to the inflatable, flipped the sib.
I was planning to join in but my outboard had other plans......

Yes if you watch that video and other videos of his he seems to be a very good Dad and also good with other Children. He has inspired several in the hobby through his you tube channel and I am sure will continue to do so

I wish we had little get-togethers' like that here buy we're just too small of a market. Fair play to him for organising it and it looks like great craic.

We used to, it’s how I met many of the old members. Might only be 5 boats on the water, but it was a laugh.

I once commented on one of his vids that he shouldn't spray the engine itself, cowling off, with loads of WD40 . Dunno why people do that (cue everyone telling me it's fine ).
But I agree, he seems like a nice chap, like someone above said, just making vids about doing something he likes, warts and all. I'll go here for advice though .

I'll be the first... it'll be fine.
After a run at sea its my habit while I'm flushing in the bucket back home to gently rinse the engine under the cowl (avoiding elecs) with water then use a similar to WD40 spray for de-watering and leaving an infinitely thin oily coating.
What was your worry with this type of procedure?

Guilty of this as well occasionally, but with a specialised heat resistant silicon type spray.
Is there an issue with doing this?
I’m not saying it actually helps, but I figure anything that might drive out trapped moisture and guard against corrosion or rust build up on any bolts etc would be beneficial. With the added benefit with using silicon based, it supposed to discourage anything sticking to it as well.
But yeah I actually don’t mind the YouTube guy. Obviously loves his boating, and I’ve watched quite a few of his other videos.

I don't know if you'd technically describe it as a degreaser, but that's what it does. Spraying it on things that are greased isn't what I'd do. But I see folks spraying it on engines in copious amounts. The oily residue from WD doesn't last.
I was a motorcycle despatch rider for years. Salt water was never my thing , so I stand to be corrected. But I've never known anyone in that game to just spray it over an engine willy nilly.

My take on it is this...
The vast majority of my engine hours are logged on salt water. The carb draws salt moisture laden intake air into the cowl. Sometimes too splash water can get up through the engine pan drains.
So if you get home and just put away everything under the cowl is festering covered with a light salty mist sealed in until the next trip. While running the motor to flush through it takes no time to wash the powerhead etc off and give it a spray of whatever product you favour. These are the two sprays I mostly use in the image.
It's no bother if you don't want to do it but can't do harm. I don't wash grease off the links and pivots.
Re motorcycles they are usually not operating in salt conditions and are washed down every wet day or in an airy rush of air on a dry day so a different scenario.

If you want a couple of days of then go on a motorcyclist forum and say you think it's OK to clean your brake discs with WD40 . Ming mong pong all day.
