Caravan sites with beach access.

Hi all,
I guess this as been asked many times.... But, August sees our family migrate down to Pentewan Sands Caravan Park near St Austell, Cornwall. To play in the sea with our inflatable boat. My question is does anyone use/know of caravan parks with similar facilities? I.e. Beach access? for It's a 365mile one way trek and was hopeful of finding somewhere closer to Yorkshire as well as our Cornwall adventures.

Anyone?

Tony

RIBase
Redcliffe in Wareham has a slipway into the river, takes about 10 mins to get to Poole harbour. Slip is ok to use, although the owner doesn't allow roping in/out of the trailer.

I had a 3M drawbar made-up, which in fairness is better for short distances.

Im pretty sure there are still one or two on the Teign in Devon with Sea access...I know Rockley in Poole also has water access (and Pontoons) and good facilities

A better question maybe to ask would if any have sheltered moorings or pontoons close by....when your liesure time is precious Launching/Recovering daily (for extended periods) is IMO is a bit of a grind, and a waste of that time

Port ban holiday park on the sound of jura, or resipole on loch sunart both nice sites with launch slip and good boating in the right conditions (port ban can be exposed, but the views to jura are to die for!). No sandy beaches, but you cant have everything!

Drys right out. it is the Bristol Channel ...

Or pay the man with the quad, to launch you (have to pay to stay on his site for that though)

Thank you everyone for the quick replies plenty for us to check out. Can I ask as anyone done Freshwater East caravan park? I've heard people talk about it I just wondered if it's a site you can leave the boat inflated and safe overnight when in the caravan site? That set up would be ideal.

Caravan sites with beach access.

There's a campsite at the top end of Ullswster which has a slipway into the lake. Really easy to launch and stunning scenery.

Black rock sands in Porthmadog has got 2 or 3 campsites right behind the beach. With good transom wheels you could push from your tent/caravan down to the shore - otherwise though you can drive onto the beach and launch, £5 a day.

We stayed at boroughbridge caravan club site a couple of times which is just on the river has a few moorings and used to have a slip you could get a sib down but nothing larger it's a good few years since we stayed so maybe check first but nice and close and we found it interesting exploring the river

Tony , We have stayed at Freshwater East several times , but not in the last three years . Because it is a Caravan Club site they are pretty strict about about what you can leave parked around your caravan or tent . There is a small car park at the entrance to the site and it might be that you can leave your inflated sib on it's trailer next to your tent but have to leave your car in the car park . Outside of the busy times ( school holidays ) they might let you park both around your tent . Why don't you call them to confirm ? There always was a separate private tractor launch facility on the beach nearby . There is a large council car park between the caravan site and the beach but you will not be allowed to overnight there ( also pretty expensive as I recall ? )

Don't think it's had a mention yet but we have stayed at Fishery Creek on Hayling Island (tents and caravans). Has a slipway which is fine at HT - it does dry out though but in the past we launch there and store the trailer at the site and then get a short mooring at Sparks Marina which is a short walk or drive down the road - all tide access then to Chicester Harbour and beyond.
If, as it has happend to us, you need to recover at low tide then just motor the boat up to the top of Hayling (Northney) and get someone to drive the car and trailer up there to use their slipway - again all tidal access.

Filey Brigg caravan site might offer possibility of a northern launch, there is a sailing club where the boat could be stored and launched or you could launch from Coble Landing. This site is great at this time of year when they do a 2 weeks for 1 offer.

We are hoping to go soon as we didn't get to go last year. The beach cafe at Hunmanby Gap is our favourite stop.

New England Bay Caravan Club Site, near Port Logan, Dumfries and Galloway. Easy launch off sandy beach into Luce Bay for fishing/watersports/chugging about. Done it for 25 years. Yorkshire, M1, A66, M6, A75 you are there.
