Choose Avon 2.8air vs Zodiac C285s?
Having just bought the c285s an air deck Avon 2.8 has come available and its much newer.
Only down side is it costs $300 more than the zodiac we bought and as we fish it is an air deck not solid.
Plus side is its newer and its hypalon.
Which would you choose?

My vote would always be Avon's that were UK built, I have two, one is from 76 and the other from 89. My 76 Redcrest, with new A7 valves, is absolutely fine and good, my 89 Rover 310 is near on perfect.
Avon, Avon, Avon.

Its a 2010 model, it is made in UK, but I cant find a serial number to confirm its date of manu, is there another badge plate on avons?
The zodiac we already have is rated to 8hp which would get us planing quick. Im just concerned the avon only being rated to 6hp might not get us up on the plane?

Why don't you go for a 3.10?

I couldnt find one locally here. This should do us though for size, a little small but will fit 2 people (just). Zodiac was $300 cheaper than they are asking for this Avon, but avon is newer and has airfloor not boards.

Im thinking I would rather have an Avon, but because the avon only takes up to 6hp the Zodiac is going to be better suited for us.

We have a 10ft Avon Rover with wood floor and a Cadet FR with the air floor. The Avon is old but very serviceable. It would be considered the best buy in the long run, but both have their advantages.
Seems to me your choice is more between the floor construction than the boat brand. I would compair depending on the way you plan to use the boat. Although the Avon is a class act, the Zodiac is still a viable choice.
Do you want a lighter boat with an air floor or a hard floor? The hard floor boats can use higher horsepower motors. The Hypolon is a longer lasting material but more expensive.

id like the avon more if it was capable of handling an 8hp. also just bit wary of an air floor when fishing etc.
