Just clicked through on Steve's Northern Diver link as below. Better seller by a mile than the Ebay ones I linked and (apart from the colour) probably a better SIB too.

If you would like me to, I could call in to Northern Diver on Monday. I very much doubt if they have anything on display, but if they have anything in stock I could take a look at it for you.

They do a 3.6m version that's nearly 200mm wider and 45cm tubes. It takes up to a 20hp, has a slightly thicker fabric and £200 more than the 3.2 version.
I looked at these myself but went for the boatworld 330 pro as it's got the slightly thicker fabric as the 3.6 northern diver and didn't want the extra weight of a 3.6
Boatworld is pre order though so I have to wait

Thanks for that, looks like a serious contender.

Thanks, I'll take a look at this Boatworld 330 Pro too. I'm glad I asked the question now. You've all given me brilliant replies and quite a few options.

Costco SIB

We bought one of these as a spare safety boat for our sailing club. We have been very happy with it, it’s over 3 years old now, never leaks and planes better than the well known brand. Would definitely recommend if you can get one.

Let's look at this a different way. For similar money to one of these budget SIBs, what more reputable older SIBs would be available on the second hand market? Something light enough to pull up the beach on transom wheels and capable of producing a respectable turn of speed with a two stroke Tohatsu 9.8. What should I look out for?

I called into Northern Diver this morning and took a look at a 3.2 ali deck which was on display. They have told me that the difference between the ali deck and the lesuire airdeck (apart from the obvious) is the Ali deck is 3 layer pvc and the lesuire airdeck is 2 layer pvc. Also the bow of the airdeck is slightly more rounded.
For the money I was impressed with the build quality. Short comings are, plastic "D" rings (they told me they could supply some SS "D" rings to bond on if people mentioned me and RIBnet) , transom is thinner than I am use to, oars are a little lightweight and small, and the grab rope is the horrible nylon/plastic type.
Would I buy one? To have a bit of fun in a lightweight sib with a small OB during the summer off a beach - then yes I would.
At £499 they have 6 in stock.

That's awesome thanks, what size of outboard would you feel comfortable with realistically?

I'd be happy with the 9.8 Tohatsu you've got.

It is what they say, a lightweight leisure sib. Quality appears to be good IMO. Don't get me wrong it's not up there with an Excel SD330 (which is the only comparison I can make) but neither is the price, and as you say you don't want to spend a lot at "this trial stage"

It was hinted that the next batch they get in will be £100 - £150 extra, so if you decided sibs are not for you I would think you could sell it and not lose very much.

Steve, with the Ali floor version being 3 ply pvc, do you know if it is a thicker fabric to the 2 ply air floor version?
I have a boatworld 330 on pre order and that is 0.9mm fabric.
