DIY Jockey seat cushion foam thickness

Hi, to save money I have decided to upholster my own seats DIY style and was wondering what foam thickness people have used/would recommend for the base cushion and back rest cushion on a jockey seat. Obviously I want to make sure that me and the passengers don't have a sore ar$e after a day out on the seas!!
