DIY Tube pressure gauge <£10
Having seen some neat examples of DIY Tube pressure gauges I decided to make one of my own. I purchased a 0-15 PSI gauge from FleaBay and fitted a short aluminium tube I had in the shed for years. I drilled and tapped a hole in the alum tube and thread taped the gauge threads before fitting it. Next came approx 75mm of garden hose followed by an old garden hose sprayer which I cut down to make a tip(yellow). Turns out the garden hose fitting is an exact fit in my Zodiac SIB tube valve. To ensure the valve inner seat is depressed when the gauge is fitted for pressure testing, I pushed a spring washer inside the inner hole and held it in with some epoxy resin. Works a charm
All in this rig cost me £7 as I had some of the bits in the shed lying around
Works a charm so now I will add some marks on the face for main tubes and other tube pressures. I am being advised these are approx
Main Tubes = 2.32 -3.48 PSI (Futura S Mk2)
Speed tubes and Keel = Approx 3.0 PSI
