If you are dealing outside of the bay you are probably not maximising sale prices if it is a widely wanted item.

You mean er... like they do?

Final value on Boats is covered by the Motor policy:

1% of the final transaction (min. £20, max. £35).. So your £2500 sale would only be £25 final value. With about £20 of other listing fees depending on your options chosen.

Final value on non vehicle transactions is 10% and is capped at £250. So if you sell something for £10k that is the 2.5% you asked for... I'll put reasonable money on the Final Value fee being > £100 creates far more work at ebay's side for complaints about untruthful listings, non-delivery etc.

I've sold many a used inflatable boat up to £1200 and always had a 10% fee! Unless your referring to a classified add in eBay motors?

Sounds like you were ahead Lee. And maybe ungrateful. "Sales" means more than just the number of items you sell. As in "Sales figures were good".

To wrap this up in regard of where to sell. . . If what you have is mint sell it on eBay if it's not so mint and your willing to take offers (up to 25% off) to get it gone then use gumtree. In my experience with your realistic knowledge that you have to haggle your price and your good at that then it's gumtree, if not hold out for your price on eBay and suck up the fees lol, I enjoy both options

Pretty sure it is based on category. So if you list it in:

- ebay Motors / Boats

You pay as a car sale.

If you list it in "Sporting Goods" you'll be paying 10%. Will need someone smarter than me to decide if you pay the extra 10% for better exposure and benefit in higher sale price.
