I don't know how his carer puts up with him, she looks like a very nice normal person.

>>>still a reasonable weight.
I always look at the power to weight.... and in that respect a 20hp efi at 100% more power for 12% extra weight looks good... as long as you can lift it.
In the same vein a 2-stroke 15hp gets 50% extra power for 8% less weight which is brilliant.
I hope it works out to use the Aerotec at least once with the Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke as I have all the figures when running it with the new 9.8 Mariner 4-stroke we had a couple of years ago. Will make an interesting comparison.

I'm not big on ratios, speed, fuel consumption etc.
I have a 4.3m Excel Volaire trailered with a 20hp Tohatsu 4 stroke and 2.5hp Suzuki 4 stroke auxiliary. That is my bigger sib for multi day trips going around the islands of the West Coast of Scotland.
I also have a Honwave T3.8 as my caravanning sib / day tripper from the motorhome.
I have been running it with a 6hp Tohatsu 4 stroke with myself and my 2 dogs. Around 30 stone.
The 6hp planes that weight easily achieving around 14mph at WOT sits happily on the plane at around 9 / 10mph.
My son has started to come along with me. Unfortunately the 6hp is restricted to displacement speeds with the lad on board hence the need for a 9.8hp.
I'm happy enough with the weight of the 4 stroke 9.8hp.
Won't be too long until the lad can carry it for me .
For those of you who watch the Gurnards videos - you'll see me in a lot of them.

Yep indeed... good to see you and the seadogs getting out. I was impressed when Mr G reported on your success with the 6hp when just yourself. As I found with an 8hp on the Aerotec it was OK to plane until extra folks weighed it back to displacement speed.

When you're waiting for your new boat and the lockdown release there's only one thing to do and that's buy stuff... but even that is getting near the end.
Just had new spare plugs, prop nut/pin and a spare kill cord arrive for the small onboard tool box. All things I always carry. I've also gone through the Tohatsu to see what I can/can't do with the apparently unused tool kit and what can be pruned from the bigger kit. In line with the simplicity of this engine you could do about any job you'd ever consider on the water or at the beach with the simple tools supplied. Just for convenience I've added three small spanners, a plug setting tool and a right angle screwdriver needed if you ever wanted to remove the fuel pump without taking the carb off first... that's all I need This has halved the tools I've previously carried such as 1/4" drive set, torx set, mixture tool etc for previous newer outboards.

I patiently waited until the end of the initially anticipated Elling arrival in the UK dates but today was the day to chase.
Answer from Boatworld was that they have not left the factory in the Ukraine yet and he said to be realistic now anticipate a date of mid April.
Bit frustrating in a way but at least we have the Tohatsu and revised lightened kit which we can use with the Aerotec until the Elling arrives. Even if we find the 10kg saving in outboard weight... 10kg lighter fuel tank... and weight reduction in kit carried... makes the Aerotec manageable again I will still keep with the Elling order as I'm fascinated to try one.

Thats a pity but anticipated I guess. Thats a few more statistics you can gather using the Aerotec though. Hope your having more luck with the mapping.

Yes not that surprised re Elling.
Re the mapping after the simplicity of the somewhat plug & play old unit this has turned into an expensive challenge... just waiting for that last chance used microSD to arrive before I know which way to go. The Mrs keeps looking over my shoulder and saying stop mucking about and order a new Montana 700 with a G3 chart to go with it... I think I'm being very restrained not clicking on buy... I already have the tabs open!

Let’s hope they arrive sooner rather than later. I don’t mind waiting at the moment as it’s still a bit cold but would be nice to have it and see what mods I’m going to do.

Just had an update from Boatworld as they've just heard from the factory... it's in line with their initial thoughts. The latest batch of KB350s are due to leave Ukraine around 2nd April and be in the UK by mid April.

At least it’s official now David. I’m just wondering if I should order the launch wheels from Germany now, as it seems the U.K. is back on its pricing list, I guess they must have their vat registration now. If I were to get them now then I could get bigger mounting plates welded on to them as there was some doubt that the original mountings would not be strong enough.

I was going to get the suprod HD200 ones. They fold up and twist flat against the transome.

Nice and neat. But someone suggested that the fixing plates might be a bit on the small side. They work out to about £130 delivered to U.K.

OK thanks. I've set the Aerotec up in the garage to check no winter mice holes and hook on the Tohatsu re AV plate height etc as it is very likely we'll be getting out with that in its stripped back form before the Elling arrives. I was just fiddling with the transom wheels I bought for the Elling and hence pondering on the transom material.

So this is what the Elling has to beat... in ten years of sibbing it was finally the Aerotec that gave us total confidence and comfort in quite difficult sea states. Nice to have it inflated and slap the tubes for the first time in some 9mths. Water beckons in about ten days... OK only the local river to start but after all this time it will be great to be afloat again.

Hi David, that first picture really shows the "V" hull.
I hope you are as happy with your new KB350.
