I know... but lockdown has taught me to expand the available small jobs into the lengthy periods available. Hopefully paddles will be deployed very soon.

That is very true.
Out top speed with the Aerotec and a 15 is around 16-18 kts depending on load and sea conditions. Pretty much exactly the same our 3.4m (flat botty) Zodiac achieved with a 9.8
One other thing David - OT but what was the Tinnitus experiment - I am a fellow sufferer (motorcycling ).

I'll PM you more Max but an overview of the Tinnitus research trial was a little like CBT online with email and phone support where needed. A little like CBT for anxiety or other similar issues in that it trained the mind to have the ability to set the tinnitus aside to a degree where you can say I've got this... it's not irritating me.
Now mine is "set aside" 99% of time and often only comes to the fore when it's mentioned... such as your question now... and then you put it away over the following few minutes.
I know it sounds all a bit odd but has been a total success for me and I'm grateful for the chance to have been part of the trial.

Well the river's not the sea but it's local and it was sunny so today we managed our first outing since Covid struck the world over a year ago. The Aerotec is currently our test mule for all aspects of our lighter boating setup until the Elling arrives.
We were out three hours and the Tohatsu never missed a beat despite trolling that whole period at 3 to 5mph. It was as we'd hoped so easy to handle at setup time... a noticeable weight reduction (together with the smaller 12lit tank) on the transom wheels... a light pull start.... not that noisy either.
The integral battery Garmin on its seat RAM mount saved a bit of faff with no external battery/wiring and no longer a transducer to connect.
New pup loved it too which is a good result... but I guess most dogs love boating.

Yes he's shaping up to be a good lad... only had him 4wks so far.
Just received an Elling update email hot off the press. They should be clearing UK customs on 12th April and shipped out within the UK soon after. This current batch already 80% sold!
I've checked my fuel use from the other day which is interesting. Tohatsu give a consumption of 4.9 lit/hr at WOT for the 9.8 2-stroke. On this three hour river speed trip it sipped fuel at the rate of 0.66lit/hr.

Yep a 12lit tank seems a complete waste. You might notice in pic 2 post #224 I have Tap Water written on the small plastic container just in case any local/not so local mistook it for fuel.

Well it seems the Aerotec is destined to be the Elling test mule for a bit longer. Just heard from Boatworld the transport co are having problems getting a truck to the Elling factory (I think within 15mls of Russian border) due to the current situation in the Ukraine. Funnily enough Mrs F and I had been pondering if Putin would be in there taking all the SIBs for his mates before ours got on its way.

Hi David, could you send me details please. A long time in industry has taken its toll & getting worse as I get older.

Go on cancel that elling order and buy the new Honwave T38ie 3. You know you want to give that a try and at £1,250 why not

Because... and I say this as a matter of fact not for the sake of argument... I've got a better 3.8m for my use in the Aerotec than a T38... the move to an Elling is purely for its claimed concept of hull efficiency to maximise my outboard downshift which is the driving reason behind my interest in it.

Well it looks like I will be renting out my Elling for try before you buy "sea trials" at this rate.

Well certainly the demand for some sort of boatshare group... you know £200/yr for two weeks or something like that.
