As costs mount up and I like to "fiddle" I bought some AF221 Borika adaptors £4.95 each so I could make up fittings to use with the fixed mounts on the KB350.

So I wanted some rod holders but was unsure if I wanted to mount them on the seat or in the tube mounts. I had seen the Borika ones at £25 and thought a pair would be expensive and limit me to the tube mounts.
I saw some rodholders on Ebay for between £8 and £10 each (with 3-5 day delivery) that could be mounted several ways with the supplied fittings. I bought 1 as a trial and pleased I did, for the price they seem very robust & I can if I wish mount them one the seat, the transom or a rail if I had one. But with a slight mod they also fit the KB's tube mounts.
I found they rodholder already had a 7mm hole in its mount so tapped it M8 and the Borika adaptor I drilled to 8mm clearance, then a M8 stainless countersunk bolt was sized and screwed up into the newly tapped rodholder mount. Perfect now for mounting on the tubes, or undo the bolt to free up the original rodholder fitting to seat or transom mount.

We’re down in Cornwall with Piglet as we speak. Had her out in the Camel estuary yesterday for a very enjoyable couple of hours. We ventured onto the “Doom bar” in fairly confused 1.5-2m waves. The boat felt sure footed & safe. My issue is that I have so little experience with SIBs, I can’t be objective & give an honest comparison. We are however very happy with her & our confidence is growing as we gain experience.
Would I buy another? yes.
Is it a “good” SIB? no idea.

Great to hear “Piglet” is performing well.

I think feedback from such as yourself, with all that boating experience is well worth hearing, whether or not you’re on your first or tenth sib.

Old post I know, now have KB350, and WOW what a boat.
Fast,Stable great for fishing or just having fun. Paired with Tohatsu 9.8 HP 4 stroke electric start. Couldnt be happier.
