Thanks Jeff!

Just a couple from Iona. The sea was very choppy for most of the week but we did get out to do a bit of exploring. It was my first time in the sea with a SIB so I was being fairly cautious but 'Korky' performed perfectly in the chop. The floor is impressive it has to be said with very little flex and once we had the weight properly distributed she rode and planed beautifully. Very handy to transport a lot of our gear across the sound to and from the cars!

I built a back rack for the boat and it worked perfectly and left plenty of room for our Springer, Sid and with the seats out, the Tohatsu 9.8 fits where the seat bases sit as if it was made to measure!

I love that rack! Have a spare 4-bike towbar rack I could convert the same. Brilliant. Was only thinking about getting rid of it this morning.

Here's a pic of my K430SL/Merc 5 for comparison

Hi Jasierock, the rack looks brilliant. I assume it is a converted bike rack?
Is it a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke?

Its a 2 stroke Steve, a lovely thing indeed!

The rack is completely self made but using the mount from a Dave Cooper Trials bike fitting. We have a couple of Trial bikes so I was very confident that it was massively on top of the job. I didnt know it was on the car until I reversed and the parking sensors sparked into life!

I can post some pictures of the details of the rack if anyone is interested.

I’ve now found out the source of my tilt problem. On the tilt mechanism there is a bar with 2 hooks on it. This engages onto the trim bar. Mine is not engaging onto that bar. There is also a long bar that goes into the top part of the propellor. And at the end is like a little plunger, this seems to have resistance to go inside to be able to pull the bar with the two hooks onto the trim bar. It seems to me I’ll have to take it back to the dealer I bought it off to get it sorted unless someone knows of an easy fix.

It would be really easy to advise if Mrs Tel could do a video of what is happening. It still may be the way you are trying to use it.

For example that rod that goes to the top part of the prop is the gearchange rod and yes it will have resistance if you are trying to engage gears with the motor not running.

That would certainly throw the trim out Tel. The difference on my motor between the first setting and the second is everything. Its a different boat on the second hole up.
I had a Mariner 55 that had the hooks on but I seem to recall they only locked on in neutral for some reason and were activated by the throttle control cables

Ahhhh ok. I understand the rod now is the gear change. So the problem is with the bar with two hooks on. This just won’t click onto the trim bar. The engine was supplied new in the box with the trim bar on the second hole the bar with the two hooks on is about 5-10 mm away from it and won’t lock onto it.

I’m still unable to post any pics or vids on here using my phone. I’ve tried logging in and out but still won’t accept my pics.

Heres one. Forgive me if I'm being dim but I am new to sibbing. Are there any issues using a SIB without fitting the seats? I could have done without at least one seat so we could carry more luggage last week but thought that they 'braced the boat so left them in. Grateful for any advice.

Had to get someone on another boat to have a look at it but he couldn’t sort the problem out. I hope it’s going to be an easy fix. I found it very difficult not being able to tilt the engine up when going to the beach and back to the harbour. Would appreciate anyone’s thoughts on what the problem might be.
Maybe the bolt on which the engine pivots needs to be loosened slightly

No, the sensors on the car can't be switched off so they see the rack and wail mercilessly!
