Hi mate,

Il follow this thread with interest.. your circumstances are nearly identical to mine.. Mainly fished from shore but recently invested in my first SIB it’s a 2nd hand Plastimo 2.4 with a 2HP outboard... I’ve only got that set up as it was relatively cheap and literally allows me to test the water and whether my interest will develop... long term aiming for a Honwave 3m ish and a 9.9 outboard..

In terms of fishing at sea and in estuary I think a lot will depend on your set up in terms of limitations..

At the moment im exploring waters around Maldon and also due to venture to Mersea Island soon... tho limited due to my beginner status in terms of knowledge of tidal strengths winds/weather and the obvious limitations of a small outboard.

What’s your set up and where would you ideally like to fish?

Same as me

In the Exact same boat I’ve got a 2.4 tans e with a 5hp outboard ive been going down the rives at paper mill lock but not to sure how the 5hp will cope out at sea haha I think there might be only one way to fine out and just go for it. And for as far as fishing I’m thinking of starting at Canvey island but will be wanted to go south coast with a bigger setup

Good luck mate, one things for sure it will give you a better chance than my 2HP, my boat is rated 4HP Max.

Take care and good luck!

Let us know how you get on!
