Europa inflatables
Anyone know anything about Europas?
Currently looking at a A380 sport with Tohatsu 15hp 4 stroke
Build quality looks good for the £'s, it'll be used on lake Windermere and river Dee mostly, occasional costal trip possibly
Previously had a honwave T30 Aluminum floor and regret selling it !

I've never heard of Europas. Always plenty of good 2nd hand boats about.

I looked at these when buying my first SIB.
I eventually went for the Prowave inflatable as they come with launch wheels, bench seat, under seat storage and a full cover.
They are about the same price and you will probably need the launch wheels so for me it was a easy decision.

I've seen there are some good deals on prowave with accessories included.
The reason I was tempted by the Europa is because it's just over one year old, includes a Tohatsu 15hp (also 1 y/o) and trailer, and at £2300 it's over a grand less than new
Just concerned about resale value if it's an oddball brand

Same old answer, tons of queries came up like this last season - stick with a second hand rig from eBay or similar - loads start to turn up as the season starts at well under £2k which should get you a decent Honwave/Zodiac/Quicksilver 3.2m+ etc with engine. All with proven quality, back-up and high resale which means if looked after and you buy right you should not really loose any money.
A nice lightweight 2 stroke is a better choice on a SIB.

I have the Europa 320 sport, good build quality and rock hard drop cross stitch v floor. I looked at the Prowave but thought they were giving too much away for the sale ie free this and that. Boat quality first. Europa also do a good range of accessories .
Cheers

Very true Max
Didn't loose a penny on my previous sib (honwave) although I think the short supply of decent 2 stroke outboards helped

Sounds like your happy with your Europa, build quality does look good
The used 380 sport I'm looking at (mes marine) I know I can get for £2200, 2010 model with same year Tohatsu 15hp and trailer, engine and trailer must be worth around£1600 so boat is costing £600 ish

Hi
I think it looks good value, yes it not a honwave but it does have a great engine and has the trailer etc. The engine is the same as the mercury / mariner ( we sell a lot of parts to owners of merc/ mariner as the same tohatsu part is much cheaper) and as long it has been serviced I would push the dealer for a few hundred quid off and buy the package.
also happy to buy the tohatsu from you if you want to sell it now or in the future.
Dave

Thanks Dave
Outboard has been serviced but will need another later this year, I'm hearing lots of good things about Tohatsu and as you say it's a mercury/mariner without the badge/cost
I've managed to chip dealer from £2300 to £2200 and deliver (no tow bar yet)

Two ways of looking at this...
For max value you might pick up a slightly older 15hp 2-stroke for £1000, few years old similar inflatable for £450 and a tatty trailer for £250... or you might get very lucky and pounce on that lot as an outfit this time of year for around £1700.
Or get the ready made outfit from your dealer virtually as new just for the new cost of that Tohatsu.
If the £2200 is within your budget it will save a huge amount of trouble and is still far better value than buying everything new. I'd be very tempted.
BTW the name of a Honwave might make one easier to sell than a Europa but as a Honwave owner looking at the Europa images I'd wonder if they are made in the same factory as so many fitting/design features are identical.

The dealer used to sell honwaves and now has these Europas made to his specification and your correct it is based on a honwave.....
So I'm thinking the Europa is simular to honwave, Tohatsu same kit as mercury/mariner.....could be a good outfit without the brand names

Just for the record I would not down grade the engine unless you are selling it to me ( if there is a chance then I vote for you swapping it) and have something older , less reliable, not under warranty and you will need to mix fuel. Even more so if its going to cost 1K.
Oh the engine weight is 52kg so you are not going to save that much weight either
Dave
ps at that price buy it.

52KG ?! - wow that's a lot of weight on the back of a small SIB - twice the weight of the Tohatsu 2 stroke...
One went super cheap the other day:

If you check out the specs on the 380 sport it has a max engine weight of 45kg !!!! I have the same 15hp Tohatsu and it weighs in at 52kg so it is over the manufacturers weight limit.
Ps.
The similar size honwave has a max engine weight of 70kg
