Excel back log

Hi folks, anyone here currently waiting on an Excel dinghy?
Or know how they are dealing with and getting on with the back log of orders?
My supplier here in Ireland is very casual to say the least.
I have emailed Excel with no reply.
Only 2 weeks overdue at the moment, but if it goes on any Longer I will have to pay customs duty when it arrives in Ireland.
Probably would consider ringing Terry Wright himself next month.
It's the 2.9metre Volante.

Originally I tried to order from Excel on the internet but got no reply, I then ordered with a dealer here in Ireland.
Next week I will phone Terry, might even give him a ring tomorrow.

Waiting

91 days waiting now for the Volante and around 100 days since I first contacted the dealer.
Looking for my deposit back as I have other boating plans now.

It's a shame as I feel they are a great product, has your dealer spoken with Excel to get a update for you?

Excel back log

There’s a general backlog of goods entering the uk by the large container ports. I suspect that it’s not an Excel specific problem. There’s a massive problem with empty containers clogging up the system.

Always the possibility that, if you cancel one order and create another with someone else you could end up waiting longer.

I friend ordered a Tohatsu from Higham Marine that was due to arrive in February and it turned up last week. This may have also been due to a cancelled order.

As a rule, if something is out when of stock it's normally in demand, this year has been a very strange year for the industry with small boat and engine sales at a all time high. The lack of regular features such as show's and holiday's has meant that many companies have been unable to plan for the demand.

It is by no means an explanation for your situation, but more a Insight. I work in the automotive industry and the company I work for has vehicles backed up waiting for parts, my family background is engineering they are having problems with materials and tooling.

True what you say there, I was going by other stuff that came from China on schedule or thereabouts.
My supplier is poor, would love a tracking number or better communication.

When I went to collect my Volante 330 earlier this year, a 40ft Maersk container had just arrived with their summer stock - I’m pretty sure they’ll now be snarled up in ports with everything else.

I keep looking at shipping containers and if the price drops due to over supply, it isn't going to help my cause of trying to avoid buying one.

Have a small Honwave at the moment, bought a vehicle with a towbar and might go back to towing a rib.
Mostly because I'm not getting any younger.
