Family SIB

Hi, I’m in need of some advice, we are looking to get a boat to use as a family for occasional fun! It will need to fit 2 adults and 3 children aged 13,9 & 4. Mostly to cruise around the coast and pull a ringo. Ideally it will sit on a trailer. Current thoughts are something like a Honwave T40 or Quicksilver 420HD with a minimum 20hp 4-stroke. Or possibly an Avon SR4?
Any helpful advice would be greatly received.
I do have some experience of boating around 12 years ago when I owned a Fletcher Arrowstreak GTS 17
TIA Paul

If you're going to trailer it you would probably be better with a rib.

Yep absolutely! No advantage in buying a sib to trailer. The only time a sib trumps a rib is the ability to fold up. In every other respect a rib will be a better boat.
Sr4 would be a far better prospect even then with 5 folk it will be "cosy"

In my opinion a SIB that sits on a trailer (I have one) is just a far worse boat than a RIB. Handling does not even compare and more air compartments is more of a hassle. Basically the only good thing about a SIB is its ability fold up. For 5 people (some that are growing quickly) you want a RIB or other solid hull boat.

RIBase
I’d echo the comments of the other Ribnobburs above, we have a SIB & a RIB, horses for courses. Our SIB lives deflated in a secure box trailer for foreign trips, so although it’s still in a trailer, it’s for a very specific purpose. The RIB is the “Home waters” boat. If I was dragging an inflated boat around on a trailer, it would definitely be the RIB.

Agree with the above. If I didn't tow a caravan around, I would definitely have a RIB. The only thing I would say is it would need to be 5+ metres IMO.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I think you have all confirmed what I was expecting. A RIB would be more future proof with a growing family and offer better handling.
