He is claiming that a 2.7m SIB(airdeck) with a 10 HP 2/str engine does 43 mph, and would go faster in flat water

I can't imagine it going significantly faster than my 3.9m boat (solid hull) with 20HP. Which tops out at 22 knots (25 mph / 40 kph). It might get a knot of two with a better prop etc... ...so I would suggest he probably managed 43 km/hr not miles per hour.

Oh and if he could do 43 mph in a SIB he wouldn't be getting a PWC for more excitement!

I did think that it might raise a few chuckles :O)

Also, getting a bit excited myself now, off to collect my mew sib in the morning. A 3.2 airfloor honwave with a 4s 9.8hp tohatsu. I will list more details after I get it. Woohoo

I used to have a 10' Avon SIB w/ wooden floor. Totally overpowered with a 25hp 2stroke evinrude that had the head worked on some. One up on flat water it would do a cool and repeatable 41mph by gps.

It was a pretty intense experience holding on to that tiller for dear life.

I have a Honwave 3.8 with a 20hp Yam 2 stroke.
On the rare occasions when the sea is flat enough I can squeeze 21 knots out of the rig, measured on the GPS.
Any claims of 43 mph from a smaller boat with a 10hp is utter bollocks.
I expect you would recognise the boats seller by the fact that his normal sized legs would be attached to a 1 foot high upper torso, due to the spine compression suffered while running over any ripples higher than 6 inches at 43 mph in his SIB!
