First outing of the year! and@poole

Going out for the first time this year tomorrow eve, can't wait.

Planning on trying my first beach landing as well, probably shell bay/studland.

Any tips? Not been out the harbour before!

Sure it will be fine!

Cheers

Go around the end of the training bank if you are going to Studland. Don't cut across however tempting it looks.

If in a small rib watch wind over tide especially in the harbour mouth.

Have a great day, very jealous, I'm stuck in the West Midlands! (Nice as it is, but still 150 miles from my boat)

Thanks guys! Can't wait to get out there, just counting the hours till I can sneak away from work and hit the sea.

Tides look good late pm and I am confident around the harbour, just never been past the chain ferry and never landed on a beach before.

I suppose if it all get a bit dodge, I will just hold on, close my eyes, and hopefully I'll end up on the beach! Lol.

note to myself: remember the training bank and mind out for that ferry!

cheers

Fantastic evening spent flying about on unbelievably calm sea's. Makes me appreciate how lucky I am to live so close to a wonderful stretch of coast. Went from Poole round Old Harry to Swanage and then back to Bournemouth and Southbourne beach, Lovely!

Avoided the ferry, landed on the beach , made it back saftely Good evening all round really.

The only things was: As it was so calm, I was WOT most of the time, is it ok for a yam 15 2 stroke to be WOT for long periods of time or should I ease off a bit? The engine is in mint cond. but about 15 years old.

I would believe most engines below 15 HP are run at full throttle in normal operation. Other than when trolling, ours spends its time running flat out.
