first trip 340 cadet new transom

As the title says. The Cadet (an airdeck) was picked up recently very cheaply. The reason being that the transom was sandwiched between two pieces of ply making it nearly 60mm thick. The repair had been covering rot, and water had got through the repair edges (siliconed!) and been held in there provoking more rot. It was that bad that there wan't enough original transom to use as a template for a new transom. So after much faffing about and a further 70 or 80 pounds in materials I have it back together. So, launched it on Friday at Oxwich was happy as Larry. Goes well with my 8hp Suzuki and compared to my old 1970 Zodiac it seemed a very dry ride. Caught some fish, fought some wind, loved it. Looks like my hardshell (a Seajeep) may finally go up for sale. Would I do another transom change? Sure, if anyone has a cheap rotted Zodiac for sale......

no, after realising just how extensive the rot was I just cracked on. I did weigh the rotten transom and repair panels and they came to a hefty one stone eight pounds if memory serves.
