Fish finder

After a finder just to use for depth and contours.
Don't really want to take a 12v setup with cables etc in a small sib.
Has anyone got any experience with the cheap wireless type on ebay (lucky type version 50 quidish)?

I have heard two things about these "lucky" fish finders. First they are not properly waterproof and many soon fail from internal moisture/corrosion. Second some folks report the fish detection shown on the screen displays as if it's a software loop suspiciously unrelated to fish of other actual objects underwater.

If you want a budget buy I'd go for a major brand used on Ebay. If you are concerned about a battery and wiring loads of folks have made various neat battery box/fishfinder mounts from basic timber that just clip on the seat or the tube top with bungees or similar.

I’m in the process of fitting a Hook2-5 to my recent SIB acquisition. The whole setup including battery won’t be much bigger than a loaf of sliced white. I’ll also have the benefit of a fully functioning plotter with cartography. All for around £320

I know it's not sliced.

I think the idea of someone marketing a product that allegedly has the fish on a pre-recorded loop is fantastic. Why would you do it?
