Kids and even a wifie are long distant memories for me because Im in the promised land and on my own again
However I didnt have that problem .. my wifie loved me taking the kids fishing... and it was their favourite day out..I just had to make a kind of game out of as they didnt like catching fish.. however they just loved being outdoors and away from the wifie..same as I did
Try it..you may find it fun too

Don't think Mrs T. has ever given you or- anyone else - sh1t about going fishing .
I find if I take one with me, that's usually a fair and well received deal.

My missus doesn't seem to mind me going fishing. However she has great delight in telling me that she doesn't understand me going when I don't bring any home. These days I tell her that I'm being an environmentaly friendly fisherman.

Been out fishing 3 days on the trot this week, I always try to get out if the weather's ok and I don't have any other commitments.
As my wife says, "what's the point in owning a boat if you aren't going to use it?" Plus she loves fish.
Who am I to argue.

It was the last chance to get out on the water today before the weather turns, so me and my mate Ballast headed out into the mist about half past seven this morning.
No wind and a slight oily swell had us heading out to our first mark.
After a 10 minute run and a bit of circling we stopped the engine and dropped the lines.
Within minutes we where into fish.
The fishing was steady away, with plenty of fish in the 1 to 2lb bracket and the odd better fish to about 6lb.
2 rods 2 fish
After several hours fishing and moving around trying different spots we finally called it a day.
Ballast, now upgraded to Cabin boy ( because he finally caught his share of the fish) swabbing down.
Overall a good day and a nice haul, now distributed to friends and family.
All the fish where caught within a mile and a half radius of my house, not bad fishing on one's doorstep.

I'm jealous.
Saying that, this time last week I was hauling in some rather nice Whiting.

Anyone know when the cod is likely to come into the Solent this year? From what I hear everything has been a bit late due to the cooler spring/start of summer?

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit on a boat getting pissed all day.
