folding road trailer

I have heared and once seen a folding road trailer but no longer able to find them for sale on the likes of eBay. Are they named something specific?

Also how do people find towing with fwd cars, Mine is a golf with all weather tyres which may help and in total a light rig. Being a sib 3.8m with a 25hp 2stroke. I have also seen trailers with carpet bunks along with Two sets of rollers at the back for launching in shallow water would that combo work for a Sib? Thanks

I used mondeo's for years covering thousands of miles towing/launching/recovering a Ribcraft 480 and a 585 with no problems. I did always use a rope for launch and recovery as I don't like the idea of letting my cars anywhere near saltwater.

I was thinking about the rope idea just to keep the wheels where it is dry and definitely don't want my car going into salt water it may be getting on but is still my pride and joy.

Never get my car wet !! Always have a rope around the towball and push the boat & trailer in, to be honest when beach launching the hardboat there's no other way you'd get the depth !! Big help if there's two of you !

I would have thought £500 was a fair price considering how small the trailer and payload are, but you are way off.

The actual price with a jockey wheel was just over .......£1200 !!!

I recently bought a near new Real Ezy folding trailer. It is extremely well made with independant suspension. Great for boat up to 3.8 m. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Only problem they are made in Oz. So I don't know how hard /expensive they are to get to your part of the world.

I had a quote from them in November, I think they have changed the design. Its all Stainless steel and cost £975

Not bad when you consider the cost of stainless.

Fair enough, if its stainless it makes the price seem better value. But, why make it out of stainless ? Even the best stainless will eventually rust in the marine environment. I bought a stainless anchor once (dont ask, just bought a new boat at boat show, few pints on Guinness stand to celebrate and saw shiny anchor on way out ) it rusted within weeks.

I would have thought aluminum would be a better choice for a portable folding trailer, stainless gives very few advantages over galvanised steel IMHO (apart from the shiny looks of course )

Aluminium can be too light to the point where the air in the tyres makes the trailer float.

Nothing wrong with floating trailers our two kids sail toppers one kids trailer floats the other sinks,the boat with the floating trailer is far easier to launch & recover than the one that sinks
You can buy a lot of folding trailers & wear them out before you're up to £975 & after youd spent that much would you want to leave in on a beach?
Id buy a cheepy & replace it when it's worn out or rotten away
