Great day out on the water. Hazy sunshine and very hot. Quite a bit of swell but hardly any short waves.
Decided to go to Polkerris and have lunch and a few drinks at the Rashleigh Inn, and very nice it was too.
The sand was very soft so I anchored off the beach using the anchor buddy/bunjee for the first. It worked brilliantly, thanks for the tip chipko.
Didn't get much on video as I forgot to charge my phone!
Hopefully, if the weather holds, we will take a trip to Polperro tomorrow.

Nor I but three days of sea fret coming in off the North Sea up here somewhat annoying in this heat wave. Ventured out in a brief reprise just after lunch today but got chased in by the mist after barely an hour on the water.

The overcrowding is one thing but I think they were also feeling the effects of pollution with so many ships all with their generators going. If the geography naturally limits the number of vessels, they may get away with it.

Which site is that? Penmarlam itself is sadly gone, replaced with soulless statics with pretentions.

We are staying at Fowey CL site (Caravan Club)
For us it's perfect, 5 pitches, very quiet, a place to sit out in the evening with a bottle of red (or two) and just chill after a day o the water.
Penhale Caravan & Camping Park is just up the road from where we are, looks like a decent site.

So I thought today was going to be a good day from the minute I stepped outside of the caravan.
It had rained overnight, but it was a brilliant sunny morning. Shafts of sunlight through the trees and mist raising from the fields beyond. Sat outside with a coffee and it just felt right, one of those good to be alive mornings. However I could never of anticipated how good a day it was going to turn out.
We had planned Polperro, light lunch, probably a pasty and a pint and then move onto Looe, returning back to Fowey via Polruan stopping of at the Lugger for a pint.
Launched at Caffa Mill, surprisingly quite for a hot, sunny Saturday morning, trundled off down past Polruan took a left towards Lantic Bay hugging the coast. We had just past Lantic Bay when I noticed hundreds, and I do mean hundreds, of gulls bombing the sea feeding about 1/2 mile offshore, that's when we saw dolphins. The only time I have seen so many dolphins was off Monterey, Calafornia, at least 30 probably more, lots of mothers with calfs. We watched them enthralled for at least 30 mins. I took loads of vids which I know haven't done justice to what we saw, filming in front whilst dolphins are jumping at the side of you, turning to capture it and missing the dolphins in front or swimming under the boat, it was incredible. That 30 mins have made the entire holiday amazing.

What a great experience, we've never seen dolphins in all the time we've been sibbing.

This is the only still pic I took, hopefully I'll manage to get something from the vids.

There’s something special about dolphins, especially close to the boat. Sounds like a day to remember.

We’re currently on the west coast of Scotland, they are literally everywhere, we can’t shift for the buggers[emoji16]

Every time I mention to Mrs F someone on here has seen dolphins she grumbles why we don't see them as if it's something I've failed to arrange.

It does make for a very keen crew member if you can say, we could see dolphins again.
We spoke to the site owner this morning about seeing the dolphins. She said there are two big pods, one towards Looe, and the other towards Mevagissey. She also said there have been reports of Minke whale, Diane is now keen to be back out on the water!
Walking day for the dog today.
Strange thing happened on the way back yesterday. Sea was very calm and out of nowhere 3 very big rolling waves came through. About 4 - 5 ft and very close together. Took me by surprise, only saw them at the last minute and just managed to turn into them. Any ideas anyone?

Wake of a bigish boat. They can travel for miles. More noticeable when it’s calm
