Frib 460 ?

Hi All

Any one useing or used a FRIB 460

i currently have a sea pro 4.6 m sib on a trailer with 25hp yamaha which is great but limited where i can use it , (currently have her stored near loch leven in glenocoe ) and travel up there to use her.

I was thinking of having something more portable as there are loads and loads of local lochs all be it some where petrol not allowed and may get a 3hp electric motor something like a spirit eprupulsion to over come that hurdle and a 9.8 hp tohatsu motor or even the cheaper orca all be it carberettor ?

So having looked at honwaves etc really like the look of the Frib 460 easy fold away and fibreglass full hull

Thanks for reading and comments welcome.

>>>something more portable...

To be sure of "more portable" I'd be looking even smaller. A smaller Frib if you fancy them or something else. Do you need the room of a 4.6m for people?

That 4.6 Frib is still a hefty 72kg and its pack down size is pretty large.

The 460 is more of a sailboat hull...long and thin and only rated to 20hp. The 430 is more rib style, rated to 30hp, and potentially more capable.

As Fenlander points out, they are mahoosive folded, so need a large vehicle to transport. We briefly ran a 375 which still wouldn’t fit in our A6 Avant or Superb Estate.

As others have said a 460 is by no means portable... It is very big and heavy
