Friday Sibbing 65 miles!

Went out yesterday for a blast in the Aerotech yesterday ended up covering 60 + miles and nearly using up the 25lt tank I took (normally run it with a 12lt tank!)
Sun hid for most of the day but worm and some very flat seas at times, spent the day at WOT most of the time.
Had a look at where the boat show is held and had always presumed it was a marina they took over on the water, never realized it was just put together for the show!
Boy do I ache today but worth it, always seem to see and do thing differently in a sib get to see more and closer up to.

Nice one Nick, they do rack up the miles easily! Most I've done is 38nm so far in one day.

Have you worked your MPG out closely with the 15?

My Mariner 15 does seem pretty thirsty, we went out the other day for a few hours although the actual 'moving time' on the GPS was only 1.5 hrs. Max was 19kts but actual moving average only 7 kts. It was a fair bit of hooning about though - covered 11 nm and used 4.5 kg of fuel (= 6 litres) so 1.8 nm per litre.

Other previous recorded data I have is the 38 nm trip which I think used about 16.5 litres so 2.3 nm litre.

Neither of these was WOT all the way which using the common formula of engine size/10 in gallons per hour = 1.5 gallons or 6.75 litres. So at say 17.5 kts WOT it should do 17.5/6.75 or 2.60 nm per litre.

Hope that makes sense!

I make it 2.4 miles per Lt or .416 Lt per mile I think??
And this was pretty much flat out all day
as I was out with a Jet-ski for company!

Fuel was about a year old too, but I did top it up with 7Lt of fresh before heading out.

Cheers Nick - not so different to my longer trip then.

Here's a compilation pic of our 'Thursday SIBing' after finally working out the engine issue ( http://www.rib.net/forum/f36/reachin...ner-63309.html ), ran like a dream. A blowy few hours out but found some shelter to cook up our bacon rolls. Nothing like a morning mucking about on the SIB with your young son.

Seriously impressive mileage for a cruiser, let alone a sib
