Chris welcome to the forum. Not familiar with your area as such but just looked at the charts. Wonder where'd you launch... off beach at Sandwich Bay or is there anywhere in Ramsgate harbour... or somewhere else? A large area of Sandwich Bay dries at low water so careful tidal planning needed re the times you are out.

Similarly the Stour looks to have large areas of mud either side of a small channel at lower tide states so just make sure you plan water depths to get back to where you launch from.

Hopefully someone with actual experience of your area will be along soon.

David

geting started

thanks Fenlander,
I am familiar with Sandwich Bay low tides and you are right, you don't want to be caught out there. with a light boat, launching is not a problem off the beach.

anyone else have input or advice?

Hey Chris I was in your shoes a year ago, so any obvious questions just ask!

Good man. We were out on Loch Lomond today. Bit bumpy but kids loved it.
