Great Video: ETEC 30 on a MilPro SIB
I'm thinking that this is an FC 470 and it seems to plane pretty well with 5 guys in it, so the ETEC 30 ought to be a fine choice for my WB465.
I know it'll be fine for my family, but I am concerned that it might not be that exciting, and that I may have trouble planing with extended family in the boat 5-6 people.
Can anybody confirm that this is an FC 470 (and not an FC 470)?
And does the futura hull make *that* big a difference (the WB 465 has a conventional SIB hull).

Oops. Meant to ask:
Can anybody confirm that this is an FC 470 (and not an FC 420)?

That boat seems to ride quite high out of the water.
Even more telling is that the transom is higher than the top of the buoyancy tubes. The transom on my WB 465 is cut down from where it contacts the buoyancy tubes and is lower than the top of the buoyancy tubes. The futura hull clearly makes the boat sit higher on the water, so I'm thinking that the futura hull could make a big difference in permitting the boat to plane with less power and to travel faster with a given hp motor as well.
Maybe I shouldn't take too much from of this video after all.

You'll have to check what's the max HP permited on your your current sib to transport max stated passengers. If a 30 it's max with say 6 passengers will work ok, if not, will need next HP to trasport top stated passengers. One thing is boating at full dislacement, other at full wot speed. Need a minimum of 70% of it¡s max rated HP to perform satisfactorily, but assume wth slight less passengers though.

Then you'll need 60 HP for max top 10 passengers, a 30 should be able to plane 5-6 passengers with a well inflated sib and passengers evenly weight distributed; cross your fingers prior outing. Anyway a 30HP is much lighter and portable than going for same E40 HP.
Happy Boating

Interestingly, the FC470 and WB465 have the same max HP rating.

It's an FC-470 (confirmed by the number of handles on the side).
I decided to go with the ETEC 30. Review should be up by mid August. It's the best all-around match for my needs. I just hope it doesn't feel too slow.

Congratulations
Looking forward to the review.
My guess is that with moderate loads, the ETEC 30 should move your boat quite nicely.

I suspect it's G470 PVC version which is lighter. Judging by inflation valves at the tube ends, and single engine plate. Still not that much ligher. I was wondering if 25-30 hp would be enough to keep F470 moving along nicely with 2 adults and 3 kids.

SIBRider, I think you're right.
There's some more info on the G470, which I didn't even know existed, here:

I love the ETEC 30. As advertised, starts first pull every time. No smell, no smoke. Only weighs 145 lbs (long shaft).
Seems to have plenty of power. Hole shot is amazing.
No break in. No maintenance for 3 yrs.
Plus, it's a very good looking engine, IMO.
I'd get an Evinrude every time with this experience.

Very nice looking set up. I suspected that the ETEC 30 would work out nicely.
