Hangkai 12 hp 2 Stroke Outboard

Hangkai have been about a while making 2-4 hp outboards. Looks like they have now made a 12 hp.

Given the issues around weight to power you have to wonder if this would be any good for Sibbers and if Hangkai are improveing.

I am of course aware of the legal issues around 2 strokes so for the purposes of this thread perhaps we should all assume that this would be for commercial use

Weight is 36.5kg but 18hp is only 2kg more and very little extra money

Yep the 12hp is no advantage for small sibbers if 36.5kg as in Bangood link.... as it would be heavier than the used Mariner/Mercury/Yamaha 15HP 2-strokes.

But I think the weight is a misprint as at 169cc I reckon it's a copy of or based on the Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke of that capacity tuned up or over stated in HP. That Hangkai is listed on Amazon at 27kg which I bet is nearer the mark being the weight of the Tohatsu.

Still a thanks but no thanks as far as I'm concerned though.

There was a time that people would not buy Japanese Motorbikes because they were Jap Crap... They will get there with these engines and this is in my view a step in the right direction. If I could easily buy one I would be tempted to give it a go for my commercial operation

If I wanted... and I could yet do so... I would buy a new Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke or Yamaha 15 2-stroke from a UK dealer near me.... for my marine exploration and photography business.
