Hello from the Clyde 😊

Just bought my first sib set up a new Honda honwave 3.8 air floor & a year old Hidea 9.9hp outbound......I'll be mainly using it in the Clyde estuary & Loch Lomond...also hoping to do the Helensburgh to Oben kayak route once I get a bit of experience.

Just returned from Loch Lomond with my 2.9m lightweight 3D tender and Torqeedo 1003S electric outboard. While up there I shattered my propellor on rocks and after a conversation with the Rangers purchased the £12 Loch Lomond Guide and Charts, well worth it because even with charts the water level goes up and down due to the hydro demands for water, you have to be very aware and alert.
Of the lochs I visit with my SIB Loch Lomond is my favourite because of the islands and the variety.
Good luck on the Loch

the chart for loch lomond is a faff, it is impossible to fit anywhere due to the size of it.

i took pictures of all the pages and just made a chart up on my mobile...ideal.

in case anyone asks... i won't give out the digital chart, buy the chart and make your own :-)

i did suggest they make this before and offer a download option with paypal....not interested.

cheers

I also separated the maps 1 to 5 and the inset maps and they fit very nicely and well protected in a tough, zip up waterproof A3 plastic folder. Very handy, flexible and easy to handle.

I photograph charts like this and organise them on the PC to A4 printable sheets at a readable size. Then I laminate them in pairs back to back. They fit in the outside of my tube shaped dry bag without being bent too much... and are easier to read than the small screen Garmin.

Maybe not so useful in a SIB, but I believe Navonics are going to add it to their UK chart potrtfolio sometime - If you use their Online thing it now shows Lomond (Sketchy in detail, but the "soli stuff" all appears to be there!) anf the Various canals. with locks, pubs sips etc.....
