Honwave T40. Which hand launch trailer/trolley?

We purchased a Honwave T40 this year, almost new. We are really enjoying using it but it is heavy and difficult to launch retrieve.

We store it on the road trailer and use transom wheels and a bow trolley to move it the 150m from boat park to the slipway. We don't want to launch from road trailer. The transom wheels have already slightly buckled on a bad bit of slipway and the bow trolley does not turn, this makes it really difficult to get it to the slipway and even down the, quite long, slipway. We are forever having to lift it to turn it. The bit the bow trolley attaches to has also torn slightly from the lifting and turning.

I would prefer a bow trolley that turns, or a launch trolley that we can hand pull to the slipway and launch off.

What are your suggestions, I have tried google but I am getting a bit lost.

This is the bow trolley we use and it's been great. We knew one that steered was what we needed and it does that with a small "turntable". I bought as a Trem brand but I've seen it under other names too.

What type are your transom wheels? There are several makes that are really strong including the OE Zodiac ones we have.

No experience of using a bow trolley,(although have often considered getting one for a particular launch site we use where we have to pull the sib a considerable distance, usually fully loaded)

If the bow handle is already weakened, perhaps rig up a harness spreading the weight over three points until you get it reinforced, or even thread a rope through the handles depending on the T40 lay out.

I think it was steve who had a similar problem and had a detailed repair thread if you do a search.

Thanks for the Compass link, I will consider that. However as I suspect the transome wheels will need replacing in the future and the D-ring attachment is slightly torn already, we may be better with a launch trolley.

Anyone use a launch trolley for their honwave t40 that you can hand pull/push?

And thank you for the name of the person who has repaired the D-ring attachment point. Worth a look.

We have the T35, T40 and T38. We use a hand launch trolley to launch the T38 at times but I don't think it would work well with the T40 cos of the extra weight. I adapted the launch trolley for very slow (5mph) towing on camp sites and that also works well. You can see it in the thumbnail to this video. This was a cheap launch trolley and does the job. But with the added weight of the T40 not too sure to be honest

Thanks, that is a nice inexpensive launch trailer. I think i need a front wheel to support the weight of the honwave, otherwise you are lifting it all the time and it is too heavy.

I just found that Extreme do a selection for about £500 each. I might contact them and see what they recommend.

I wish I could edit the title of this thread (Mod edit: Consider it done), I would really like to see what hand launch trailers people use. Or maybe they don't!

I have since fitted a small Jockey wheel to the front of that launch trailer for exactly the reason you describe

Why don't you want to launch with your road trailer. I do on many boats

The suprod ones on amazon look good, thank you, cheaper than the extreme ones! Reading the reviews sounds like people using them just for what we want it for. Though i don't need it to be folding.

I don't want to launch with the road trailer, as I am not very good at reversing it round a corner down the slipway. My co-owner did all the towing to the site.

We get charged for launching with a car, and hand launching is free.

My teenage boys don't drive yet. I want them to be independent but not ruining the D-ring on the boat each time they use it.
