Hypalon paint

Evenin all,

The hull skin on my Zodiac has been worn down to the weave in some places. I was thinking of painting it to give the boat more life. Does anyone have any experience of doing this or product recommendations? Thanks

Adam

You'd be better off patching it but if its air tight still then paint would do. How many bits are down to the weave?

Mainly the bow area strangely. Its the bottom of the boat not the tubes, which are in actually in good condition. I have yet to fill the hull with water and test it for water-tightness, though water does accumulate, maybe from spay though.

Hypalon Paint - DON'T DO IT.

It might look OK for a short while, but it will look terrible very quickly.

Patching over it in the event of a puncture is also a nightmare, as all traces need to be removed under the patch to ensure a good bond to the original tube. Don't believe what it says on the Tin.

As has already been said, you are better off applying some patches.

I think Nashers has answered your question NOs, You have to remove the paint but a good thinners makes that an easier process.

Thanks for all your responses, I will look into buying some large patches to beef up the worn areas.
