Stock answer for SIB's - Craftinsure, about £50 - make sure it is down as a 'small craft', not RIB:

Craftinsure charged me £48. 1 minute online and the policy is emailed.

Their customer service was good when I asked them about outboard locks - email response the next day.

I use Noble Marine, who were recommended a couple of years ago on this forum.

They are similar on price, £58 to insure my SIB and motor, combined value about £2500. They wanted the engine type and serial number, plus details of the boat.

They are very good to deal with on the phone.

I've been with Craftinsure for a good few years. I've not claimed yet but I've been happy with all communications I've needed with them. They are the online outlet of a larger broker and I'd think they'd be as good as any other insurnace company. They all try and wriggle out of stuff unless you have your side of the claim spot on.

They don't ask outboard make but it's value is included in the overall you state and they do insist you have the full details and serial number in the event of a claim. Similarly there are restrictions in how/where it's kept which you can read by clicking on the sample policy.

Any loss would need to be reported to the police and as long as the storage conditions are met (not moored unattended in tidal waters etc) you will be fine.

I can email my pdf craftinsure policy if you want to read the get out clauses.

Craft insure wanted by boat name - It doesn't really have one so I just typed Excel.
