Do you want a cheap insurance company or a good insurance company who won't charge you an arm and a leg?

Jfriends (trademember) on here works for a broker who aren't necessarily the cheapest but do bother to listen to what you are asking, and discuss odd requirements with the underwriters.

Porthcawl always used to be popular. Craft insure get mentioned a lot, especially by the sib guys as I recall.

We use craftinsure for a hard boat, rib and two sailing dinghys always seem competitive on price and two claims settled without quibble

I had a look at their sample policy and they don't seem to cover much!

What were the claims you made for?

There are two things in life that you should not buy cheap, parachutes and insurance. You usually get what you pay for.

We had a centre windshield flip open in the wind when out the water on the hard boat which tore the canopy and smashed the side curved screen
The boat is a regal 3760 curved screen was £3000 Inc freight from USA total bill was around 6k
The other was weird and I expected them to not pay but they paid in full
We had our previous boat a searay 290 sundancer laid up over winter & had all the electronics lifejackets foulies camper covers and some soft furnishings all stored in a static caravan which caught fire we lost well over 10k worth of stuff.
Craftinsure paid in full
I was so sure they wouldn't pay that one I almost didn't ring them but to be honest they couldn't have been better
Each claim was handled by the same person right through and they always either answered the phone or called back promptly
They couldn't have been better to be honest

With the good reviews on here I thought I would get a quote. They will not insure the RIB, too fast and they are 3 times more expensive than my existing insurer for my other boat. My boats are insured with GJW so it might be worth considering them.

I looked at Porthcawl and Westfield before moving to John. I've been with Cita for years but they seem not like the new boat.

BSAC have a deal for members for Dive Rib insurance through Bishop Skinner

Boat insurance for BSAC members - British Sub-Aqua Club

Sure they'd do something for non-divers too.

My quote was about £280 a year for full boat, trailer, travel, on the water, mooring and dive activity cover.

More expensive than others but covers all the bases.
