Russ the standard easy option for sib owners is to visit Craftinsure online...
Craftinsure Boat Insurance | Compare Yacht, Narrowboat, Dinghy, RIB, Speedboat, Canoe and Kayak Insurance
Been with them a decade myself and always pleased with help and admin plus ease of using the website. Cover is instant and all the documents can then be printed as you wish.
Some folks here have made claims and found them OK for that aspect too.
If your outfit was worth £3000 it would be about £45 with £100 excess.
You would be in Small Boats, Motor category.

Just having a scout about this year and checked out this lot.
Seem to good to be true. 2 seconds on the site and I seem to have a quote which saves me £100 off my renewal quote. They don't seem to care where it's stored, just that there's a wheel lock and hitch lock on it.
Anyone any comments?

I was referring to Craftinsure. Didn't think a linky was required cos they were the only company mentioned, but I can see how it looks like there ought to be one.

I've used craftinsure for years and had to make a few claims and they are good at handling claims too

I was being totally honest! The text of my post looks like there ought to be a link. I don't know *what* you're inferring.

If you search back Craftinsure will be the de facto answer to SIB insurance on this question, gets asked about once a month. Always super helpful and accomodating, just had my renewal quote through and it's £5 less than last year at £39.

My renewal is approaching, I have 2 years NCD and used a RIB valuation of £6.5K
Craftinsure: £145.60
Insure4Boats: £132.20
Last year with Mercia Marine was £195, am tempted to switch but worry about proper compensation and hassle in the event of a claim.

It depends on your requirements. The Mercia policy will cover you from the Elbe to Brest & passages between. Therefore you’re covered for channel crossings & long offshore cruises. The others may only cover you for 10 miles offshore. Make sure you read the small print. That said, if you don’t need the extended cruising, there’s no point paying for it. The other thing to check is the payout in the event of a total loss. My Mercia policy is an agreed value, the others may only be market value. Caveat Emptor.

Just to add to this thread, I've just used Craftsure to cover the new SIB and 15 outboard for £3k with a £100 excess for £45.
It's more a box ticking exercise and accident cover as I suspect the absense of questions means other policies such as car and home are the main covers for much of the time and any annual holiday insurance policies are likely to cover a day out etc.
