Ipswich to Clacton on a calm day
I launched at Suffolk Yacht Harbour on the Orwell near Ipswich. They didn't charge for hand launch on the slipway or parking. They gave me a free map. I didn't moor overnight so I dont know if thats free too!
The slipway was can be used at all states of tide. There is moss but no mud. Its quite steep. The nearby concrete is a bit stoney so glad I had my pond underlay to inflate/ deflate on.
It was flat calm. I saw my first guillemot, a relative of the puffin.
I still need to explore the nearby river stour and going north up the coast

It was just me. It planes easily. I was cruising at about 10 knotts on about half throttle. On full throttle it does 12-14 knotts

Essex after forum chat some 9mths ago when you wondered what to buy great to hear you're getting out and the outfit suits your use. We managed two more hours on the river yesterday but would have preferred the sea like your trip.

Thanks. I made sure the forecast was 0.1m waves! Here is a picture of the boat from when I was in Torquay. I use a tiller extender and sit on the bench seat

My Clacton trip was last Wednesday. I didn't manage to get out over Easter. Ive been really enjoying having a sib.
I am thinking on being greedy and getting a new tohatsu 4stroke 15hp at 43kg so I can go even further in 1 trip. So far I haven't done any beach launches and dont intend to, I like the luxury of marinas. Hopefully I wont regret the extra weight!

That is a lot of weight see if you can find a 15 2 Stroke at 36KG the difference is huge. I am about to sell my 20hp 4 Stroke as it is so heavy to lift

Yes well done did you take a VHF with you because on a weekend if you get into trouble you will always get help from FCPRS Volunteer

Yes I keep my vhf radio attached to my lifejacket and I keep my mobile phone in a waterproof bag round my neck. I brought an anchor and wore a wetsuit under my clothes. I am still considering the drysuit and PLB!
