Ireland - West Coast SIB holiday thoughts

Most of our smallcraft boating of the past decade has been on holiday on the west coast of Scotland... and a bit more recently in the Mersea Island area.... plus the local river for trialing new outfits etc.

The Mrs is pushing to book a holiday cottage in summer 2015 on the west coast of Ireland... it would have to be one with adj launch access.

Anyone with any experience of areas suited to sibbing? I expect by then we'll have a 3.2-3.4m SIB with 8/10hp outboard.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Do a Google images search for Bunaninver, County Donegal. Lovely place, safe for SIBs, island hopping and shelter from the Atlantic via the islands. Music in the pubs and people friendly. I am only a wee bit biased!

Thanks guys... look great areas on streetview images that show the coast. I'll chack out cottages in the areas.

By chance wife and daughter are flying to an event at Castlebar later in the year and they intend to drive over to Westport to give it a look while they're there.
