I thought the Bombard 420 would be nearer £800+ more than a Honwave T40??

I agree for my use re SIBs and trailers but we have several folks here with 4m+ SIBs on trailers who have them rather than a RIB for their own reasons.

Proper Bombard? If you mean as in a Hypalon heavy duty SIB like RNLI standard then no but totally acceptable for leisure/enthusiast use. If you want "proper" you're looking at the Mil/Pro and Grand Raid type SIB... £6000-£20,000 in a 4.2m size!

Looking at the spec it is only 14kg heavier than what I have now.. I do t think that or the hard floor wod put me off.. Bigger tubes, and 700mm extra length.
Thing is, it isn't a "proper" Bombard is it? What is the quality like? £400 more than a Honwave.. Worth it? Will it go OK with my Tohatsu?
King of the SIBs, the Gemini GRX 420 needs a trailer.

I think if you have space to keep a trailer and slipway access, then its easier than inflating for each trip to be honest.

RIBase
I downsized from a 6m rib to a 3.65 sib going back to where I started many years ago for various reasons one was taking a £40,000 boat into areas I can explore with a SIB was a no no, I’ve trailered all my SIBS for ease, and kit carrying for the holiday essentials etc. I can be on the water in 5 mins if required. For me the SIB is more fun and just as capable as a rib in the right hands but setting up on a slipway isn’t for me, whatever floats your boat I guess

Hi Andy,
100% with you there matey.

If it was me I’d take a punt repairing the baffle on your Lomac. Effectively the boats ‘foobarred’ as is, for use at sea anyways, so what have you to lose . I’d attempt a proper job, open it up and re glue baffle. You could open up a seam for access but risk always fully sealing the transition point between old and new. Slightly more drastic, but arguably better is to cut a large slit adjacent to gain access to said baffle. Repair/re-glue baffle. Repair tube with both an internal and external patch.

If after a new sib then would recommend perhaps looking at the Honwave T40. It’s a big old brute at 89kg, and an issue to many for a daily inflate, but assuming no heavier than your Lomac so know what to expect! It’ll go well with your posh new Tohatsu 20, has decent sea keeping, loads ‘a’ room, and good value to boot....and if your local chandler has stock, another bonus at the moment.

Update

Breaking news!
I am going for it.
Tomorrow I am poised to order and Excel Vanguard XHD 395. I I tend to get the really heavy duty big launch wheels..
In the end it was a toss up between the Excel and the honwave. My wife liked the Excel..
I wasn't sure what supy was like but they told me today, I would be alright it I was quick..
Honwave T40 in stock at our local Marina, so if Excel had told me delivery late Aug, it would have been the Honwave.
Really looking forward to it, can't wait!!
😉👍👌😍

Nice one Andy, great news and it’s a bit lighter than the T40 to boot. [emoji106]

Looking forward to seeing some pics when it lands.

Congratulations! How exciting, and of course as a fellow excel owner I firmly believe you’ve made the right choice [emoji6]

Yes can’t wait to see photos. Tradition dictates you should start a new thread when it arrives to review your new boat and share any mods you make or addons you use!

Well done on taking the plunge, sounds like you knew what your criteria were and did your research [emoji106] doesn’t always happen!

I only had the choice of Red or Grey, so I went for Red.. as everyone knows, the red ones are always faster!!
Just waiting for the invoice to come through now, then it will feel real when I have paid.
I am going to collect it on Thursday.
I asked for some launch wheels to be added to the order. That may have been a little rash of me, because I have come across these.

I think I may cancel the excel ones and get some of these. anyone have experience of them? anyone recommend them?

Red is the better colour IMO

Can't help you with the beach master wheels, know nothing about them.
