Johnson metal fuel tank

Hi all
I have finally found an engine for my 3.65mt Excel SIB. Its an immaculate early 90's 15hp Johnson 2 stroke, unused for many years by its fastidious owner.
Question I have is it came with an OMC 11.37 lt metal petrol tank again in superb condition
I have an airdeck - is this tank going to wear heavily on the airdeck ?

Looking forward to fishing of Hengistbury Head over the next few weeks (soon as it calms down)

Heres the wave info today

Nice little set up ( and great fun when not fishing ) especially for that area.

My excel came with a little piece of material that went under the tank specifically to avoid rubbing the deck....if its not here have a word with Mike ( who I guess you know is a JOhnson & excel dealer) @SCO in Bridge street . I feel sure he will have something to suit ..( either a plastic tank or a peice of material) .

If the tank has a lip on the bottom an old piece of Hose pipe split length ways can be pushed on or something like a car door seal stops it marking or sliding about .

Boaters using air floors sometimes cuts, abrades, hocks floors, if possible buy a thick carpet and place on top air mat, can trim sideways and countour to match, air mat will last much longer.

Happy Sibbing
