You should be looking into more of a buoyancy aid rather than lifejacket.

Buoyancy aids are also called impact jackets used by jet skiers and watersports enthusiasts which want better movement and protection when you hit the water at fast speeds. (Water can become solid like concrete when traveling fast)

Life jackets are better at saving lives and can usually keep your head upright and out of the water in case you fall over board and are unconscious. Better to use if you don't intend on being intermit with the water.

I use a impact jacket as it suits my needs better (knee boarding)

I use an O'Niell life jacket that is a type III. It definitely protects from impacts as it is Coast Guard approved which is a requirement in California. It is neoprene and comfortable to wear while twisting around.

At your kids age forget the kneeboard and get them a wakeboard. Good bindings are important, and not the universal one size fits all sandals.

Forget the Hydroslide, buy a wakeboard. That's where they all end up, so you might aswell start there. Mine started at younger ages then yours are now, they'll be fine.

Yes, much too small. Kneeboarding is fantastic fun and incredibly easy to learn and you can take it as far as you want in terms of learning tricks, spins, jumps, flips etc.

You should be OK behind your SIB but might struggle a little if they are big kids. I use my 3.4m/9.8 with my 10 yr kneeboarding but he is small.

As for rope length forget a standard 75ft rope - cannot remember what we use (perhaps 30 - 40ft) but you want them closer than 75ft, no wake to speak of on a SIB either.

Just pick up a cheap old style big buoyant kneeboard on eBay to start with and go from there.

I just used a standard ski rope for my knee board .. but Ive only ever used it behind my ribs which have always had bigger engines. Things can certainly get interesting starting off in standing depth water with a 150 shoved to full throttle I never tried the 'going from the beach ' method
