Launch sites near Dawlish/Exmouth

Hi all,

I've just booked a few days with the lad down at Leadstone Camping near
Dawlish. Wondering where nearby we can chuck the SIB in... we'll be in a campervan which is the main complexity in terms of parking spaces, it's the size of a large/LWB transit rather than a huge coach built thing but still 6m long and bigger than your average car...

Any thoughts? Is there an option do you think for us to berth it for a few days somewhere so we don't have to launch every day?

Thanks in advance.

You could stick it in the marina for the period - https://www.exmouthmarina.co.uk/marina-visitors

Launching at Polysteps, Teignmouth is great at most states of the tide. You can ring Teignbridge Council who rent out wet mooting for short stays.
If you launch at Teignmouth, you can turn right and head along to Torquay for lunch.
I wouldn't consider Exmouth slip as the tide rips past at one hell of a rate and the slip is ridiculously steep!
Enjoy your stay

Agree with most if the above....but Exmouth isn't at all as hazardous as suggested, launched SIB's RIBS and Hardboats there for years..
Easier at High tides on neaps when Esturary flow is weakest ....but the same can be said of Poly Steps...which can also have noticeable current at the slip on Springs.
You can also beach launch/recover a SIB or small RIB from Exmouth with little tidal flow (Behind the new Flats -for nothing) at High water...where the surface is hard gravel ...and store Vehicle and trailer above high waterline...but a 4X4 helps.
Some nice Cruising grounds towards to the West especially

Epic guys, thank you!
Polly Steps was perfect this morning. Great weather, safe, easy, not too busy (not busy at all at 9:00am, pretty busy at 2pm but not hectic), we launched low-tide +1 hour and there was plenty of water to launch/get to the sea.
Plenty of secluded beaches to visit, one had a great coffee shack/snack bar (Cafe Rio, Maindencombe Beach)
Got a wee bit lumpy on the way home as the wind picked up.
Passing the parked up cruise ships, we saw 5 mothballed ones around Paignton/Torquay area.

Brilliant Stig... the video was short but loved it... just the perfect conditions to give a lively fun ride at speed without having to fight it.
