Hi Folks, new here and wondered if anyone has got any experience of launching a SiB at Saltburn. I've seen there's possible access at Marske. Has anyone launched here?
For info I'm looking a providing safety support for a group of swimmers between Saltburn Pier and Marske.
No experience of that location but loads of experience researching launch spots from Google satellite/streetview etc. I hate beach launches but accepting that there are three possibles to get onto the beach at Saltburn... the wide ramp by the Ship PH, the ramp where the fishermen use their tractors and the ramp by the seafront car park/cafe area.
At Maske I guess you are looking at the High St where the road ends at the beach? Can't see many places to park or set up there but the sand (if firm) may be a nicer launch than what look a rather stony beach at Saltburn.
I was at Saltburn last month (no SIB) and the ramp/slipway near the Ship has bollards and chains on it. I think it is part of the Ship PH but as the pub is now closed down I don't think you can use it or get it unlocked. I wouldn't want to try a beach launch over those pebbles unless you can carry everything to the waters edge.
