Where are you based? I'm in Cardigan and launch from Teifi boating club where I'm a member, there's parking etc there or in the moorings in St. Dogmaels. The river is a safe and good place to start as launching off a beach and into surf can catch you out if you haven't done any boating before.

+1[emoji106] Dale is a PITA to get to, but once you're there you have access to plenty of sheltered cruising in & around Milford Haven. If it's good weather you can venture out to the islands, but it can get very lairy around St Ann's head.
