Launching at Felixstowe Ferry?

Looking for days out from our inland location. Felixstowe Ferry (West side not Bawdsey) is an easy run A14 all the way from us. Looks to have parking, a most states of the tide slip (£15), toilets, cafe & pub.

Anyone used it as a launch base?

I know of quite a good place in Harwich to launch from, as far as I am aware its free, I pay $3 a day for the car park, usuable all tides as far as I can see.

I'm not sure how far Harwich is from where you are, I guess felixstowe is the right side for you, this slip launches into Harwich harbour so is quite well protected!

If you want more info let me know.

Nick

Thanks for the reply Nick. Where would that be then? Are there any family friendly facilities?

Hi Nick, would you mind telling me whereabouts this place is in Harwich? I live near Colchester and would really appreciate another launch area to use.
West Mersea is nearest to me, but parking is almost impossible now and Harwich sounds good.

Many thanks,
Ray.

We don't have a trailer so only need one car space. On streetview there seems to be a pay & display gravel car park for about 30 cars right by the cafe. Does it get so busy they all get used up?

If the sailing club membership means the slip is free and parking too I might join anyway.

I assume no speed limit on the Deben?
