Launching Wheels

Sorry about all the questions, it's all still a little confusing

Does anyone else who has a Honwave 3.2IE have launching wheels fitted. I only ask because we will need to portage locks on the Basingstoke canal as we are not permitted to use them in the normal way. Secondly, I cannot be sure that we would be close enough to any water to launch without having to walk a little.

If anyone does have such wheels fitted, can I ask which ones and would you recommend them ?

Many Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary, yeah we have the wheels fitted, just standard honwave £200 ones. They are great, load it up, wheel it down the beach straight into water, job done. Once floating remove and turn upside down. We dont use then as much now as got it in harbour but yeah definitely worth having. If you have to walk any distance not too bad, just gets hard work in soft sand, especially lot easier if there are two of you.

Hi Gary

I use theses

https://www.mailspeedmarine.com/s-s-...for-honda.html

Seem ok, however I bought mine from seamark nun and had problems initially with a punctured inner tube, they sent me a replacement wheel with different hub diameter, mine didn't include fixings.

Trem wheels are fine but if I was buying again I'd buy genuine honwave as they are not much more expensive as they include nuts/bolts etc

Definitely makes launch and recovery much easier

I can't recommend a particular brand as I've only tried 2 types. However, I can say that big fat pneumatic tyres on longish legs are great, and those little hinged hard plastic wheels just about "do the job". It is worth paying for quality. However, there is no great technology involved, so it may not be worth paying Honwave prices. Mine were sourced and fitted by Central Marine Services and I'm very pleased with them.

What about the Beach Master wheels? Better than the plastic ones as they are larger and have proper tyres, plus they fold up when you have launched and can be removed also in seconds (say if you want to roll up your boat)

I understand because of the stabiliser that protrudes from the bottom of the transom the straight bar type are not suitable, these are the recommended set for my particular SIB:

Honwave Inflatable Launching Dinghy Wheels T24IE 27IE 32IE 38-IE 06427-ZV5-T50HE | eBay
