Legroom

I currently have a bombard airdeck ax3.
I can suffer with my back if I sit with my knees higher than my hips and obviously this is an inherent thing with inflatables.
With having no other experience or knowledge of other sibs, will a sib with larger diameter tubes give me more legroom from seat to floor and are there any other floor types that would give me more height from seat to floor ie, v air floor or aluminium floor or others
Thanks

Most SIBS are broadly similar in this respect but yes the larger tube models are better and of course it depends how high the seat is fitted if you're using that. I wonder where your seat is fitted in relation to the tubes?

There is one SIB that is much deeper and that's the Bombard Aerotec with the only floor that carries the deep V to the stern. The extra "legroom" is quite noticeable.

In this image my left foot is on the lowest part middle floor section and you can see my knee is low when I sit on the tube. But you can see the seat is lower than the tube top and if this for example was a problem for my regular passenger I would buy seat attachment patches to glue higher up the tube and make my own seat.

Am I right in thinking that because my tubes are 36cm if I get a 42cm tube then I automatically get 6cm more depth? It might seem a dumb question but like I said I have no other experience or knowledge of other sibs.
Also, does a sib without an airdeck get the extra depth
My thought was bigger tubes and no airdeck might give me another 8cm +

Down to individual design really and the only 100% answer is to get a seat to floor measurement for each model you are thinking of.

Do you always sit on the seat... alone?

Re air floors some are fatter than alloy types and some air floors push up a bit in the middle when under way (even properly inflated) losing you the height you might measure when static.

I have looked and couldn't easily see an image of any AX3 with a seat or seat patches, do you have one you could upload of yours?

Mine is the ax3 2.7m. Don't think they did one with a seat, it has the inflatable seat so I put a plank on with a folding seat and swivel. Its spot on for fishing but when underway sat sideways the floor is higher over the inflatable keel

The other option would be a small rib??..... i know its not as portable, however, i can sit, facing forwards, with my legs straight,....or bent!!

I would hasten to add, that my previous sr4 was much comfier, and more seaworthy.

For more leg room try a tiller extender, sit on the bench seat on an inflatable kayak seat or something similar. There is a fishing seat cushion that straps round the bench seat. More height means more legroom
