Lettering for naming SIB

HI Guys,

Anyone got any recommendations for getting some waterproof lettering for naming my new Zodiac 310 SIB?

Got pulled over by the River Police in central London last weekend who said I should make sure the name of the boat (Ratcliff) is clearly displayed.

Not sure if there are specialist chandlers who can do this by mail order - any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Tim

I have used this company http://www.funkymonkeyboatnames.co.uk/ to provide a vinyl stencil and then painted the name onto the bow. The insurance company cannot then quibble about the name being permanently affixed !

I may be a complete muppet here, but since when has it been a requirement to have a boat name displayed??

I used to have one on, but it deteriorated and I have not bothered to replace.

It is one of the Port of London Authority Regulations for the Tidal Thames apparently. The police were cool about it but said the Harbourmaster might get upset!

Probably some local river by-law ? Especially on the Thames. Its often a requirement to mark tenders with the boat name for them to be insured.

I have used the services of the Automotive sign/sticker maker we use on the vans ect,They will last a few seasons, don't do ANY damage when removed, and they're Cheap! Main thing is to apply them when the Tubes are dry and polish free.Wipe over with white spirit or similar first!and they'll stay put. Expect to pay about £10-15 a pair depending on what your after.
