Lightweight anchor setup paracord?

On my old sib I had a reel of 10mm rope and a 2kg Bruce anchor with 3m of 6mm chain. The boat never moved, but I am pretty sure I could have anchored a boat twice the size (3m sib).

I am kitting out a replacement and trying to go a bit more lightweight. Ive been looking at what the kayak anglers use. I've got a 1.5kg folding grapnel (I know they are not really flavour of the month!), 3m of chain and a diving reel. The reel is really compact and clips onto the painter with a built in clip, but the chord that came with it is only 2 or 3 meters and rated to 75kg. I think it's unlikely I could excert more than 75kg of "pull", either during hauling of the anchor, or if the boat slapped in a swell, without tripping the anchor. However, to be safe, I was thinking of upgrading to something a bit stronger.

I was thinking about 4-6mm paracord, as its cheap, but seems to have a high breaking strain. Has anyone ever used this? Or any other compact solutions.

I use it for fishing and ideally might want to anchor in say 50m of water, so I'd need 150m of whatever the solution is. I'm also thinking that thinner rooe/cord will make less drag in the tide and reduce the amount of rope / cord I need.

That's good to know as my most recent purchase was a 2kg Bruce anchor and 3m if 8mm chain.

It never held unless I was anchored on rocks and even then it was very hit and miss.

Cant help you with the cord/rope as I just use the standard polypropylene stuff, but I thought I'd let you know just in case you sell your bruce prior to using your new grapnel.

The Bruce went with the old boat. If the grapnell doesn't work, I'll just have to get another Bruce, maybe 1kg or 1.5kg, in the persuit of lightness.
